Our Ministry
Welcome!
Greater Harrisburg Youth for Christ trains and equips tomorrow's leaders for service in their communities, schools, and churches. YFC offers teens opportunities for social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual development, as well as recreational enjoyment, through a multifaceted program designed to address the contemporary issues and needs of today's youth.
Reaching more than 2,000 teens each year, the Greater Harrisburg Youth for Christ can be the vehicle you use to impact the teens in our area so that they might be equipped through mentoring programs that prepare them to face the demands of society, thus becoming contributing members in the community. YFC has no formal membership for participating youth. All students from any social, cultural, or denominational background are welcome to participate in any activities.
YFC History
YFC is not new to the Harrisburg area. In 1943, two sailors began youth rallies on Saturday nights. Today, these rallies which still begin each Saturday at 7:14pm are known as "Lightforce" activities.
In January 1972, the Youth for Christ Teen Center opened. During that time frame, the Harrisburg Youth for Christ withdrew from its assocation with YFC, USA and became a charter member of the Youth Evangelism Association. YFC is now active in five central Pennsylvania counties: Cumberland, York, Dauphin, Perry, and parts of Lancaster.
